Feel helpless in the fight for homeschool freedom? Don’t. One of the greatest tools for protecting home education is you. This event connects families directly with the lawmakers who shape homeschooling policy in Colorado. Together, we stand for freedom, faith, and family-directed education.
CHEC invites you to join us at our annual family-friendly Meet Your Legislator Day on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. We will meet on the first floor in the West Foyer.
10:00 a.m. – Civics Training
Begin the day by learning how Colorado’s state government works and how laws are made. This session will equip families with practical ways to advocate for homeschool freedom and understand how individual voices can make a difference in shaping legislation.
11:00 a.m. – Delivering Sweet Treats to Legislators
Join us as we deliver treats to state legislators to show appreciation for their service. This is a great opportunity to meet your representatives in person, thank them for their work, and express how homeschool families contribute positively to Colorado communities.
12:00 p.m. – Capitol Tours
Explore the Colorado State Capitol with guided tours offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Discover the building’s history, architecture, and the chambers where important decisions about our state’s future are made.

Colorado Civics: a K–12 Civics + History for Colorado Home Educating Families
Did you know civics is a subject required by Colorado Law? This book will help teach your students the foundations of responsible citizenship and the constitutional heritage of our nation, as well as a plethora of fascinating details from Colorado history. The 250-page textbook is set up unit-study style with unique images, book suggestions, activities, and field trip ideas built into each lesson, allowing you to tailor the content to your student’s abilities.

Study up on your flag etiquette with this family workbook. (Bonus — if you're a member of the CHEC Independent School, this workbook fulfills your requirement for the subject of flag care and use!). all book products will be mailed. Conference pick-up not available.
This event is free, but we couldn't host it without generous donations from families like yours.
CHEC is hosting this event as an initiative of our Colorado Homeschool Freedom Fund, which helps CHEC strengthen Colorado homeschool liberty by maintaining and growing the influence of homeschoolers in the legislative arena. CHEC is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-exempt.
